La Fortuna Costa Rica

LaFortuna Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever visited. I think it’s impossible to take a bad picture here as you will see from my images that I’ve actually sold prints from.

I flew into San Jose Costa Rica from there I took a cab to the bus station which was “appx10USD” and at the bus station we took the local bus to LaFortuna Costa Rica. The person working at the bus station spoke english and let us know we missed the direct bus which was $2USD per person “Note if you don’t catch the direct bus you’ll have to change at a bus station unfortunately not many spoke English there and to use the bathroom was $.50USD.

The bus ride to LaFortuna was very long going since we had to change buses,if you take a direct bus it’s only about 2hrs but changing buses made the ride about 5hrs. This was worth it though as we saved over $80 because a cab to LaFortuna is $100. I must say though the food at this bus stop was probably the best I had during my visit.

When we arrived in the small town of LaFortuna the first thing you see is their “Town Square Park” this is the center of this small town and it was very pretty.

Since the town is so small you can pretty much walk anywhere you need to go and any medication you need to purchase doesn’t require a prescription. So we get off the bus and ask which way to Gringos Pete II hostel. This town has tons of hostels but I liked Gringos Pete ll, we got our own room with bunk beds and a private bathroom for $7 a night and the clerk Juan Carlos was so very nice and kept the hostel very clean. You can book excursions through him. The beds and pillows weren’t the most comfortable but the room was clean and the shower was “warm” never hot but always warm. This was my first time staying at a hostel and I would definitely do it again.

Q&A

What is there to do in La Fortuna? This town is known for having one of the worlds most active volcanos the Arenal Volcano. You MUST do the volcano and rainforest tour which is usually paired with the natural hot springs as your last. Click link for pics from this tour.
